Edgar Mugisha is the Managing Partner of Atacama Consulting. He is in charge of providing the overall strategic direction for the firm coupled with facilitating global strategic partnerships. He is also the Partner-in-charge of the firms Sustainability Services Unit

He holds an MSc in Environmental Assessment and Management from Oxford Brookes University and a BSc in Environmental Management from the University of Durham, both in the United Kingdom.

His professional experience in the environmental management arena spans over 20 years, both in Uganda and internationally, across diverse sectors that include Energy, Mining, Manufacturing, Agriculture, Health, Telecommunications, Financial Services, Tourism, Transport infrastructure, and Real Estate. This has entailed providing coordination and guidance for projects of multinational corporations, the World Bank, International Finance Corporation (IFC), Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA), Environmental Regulatory Agencies such as Uganda’s National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) and the Rwanda Environment Management Authority (REMA), to mention but a few.

Edgar is a member of the African Circular Economy Network (ACEN), and the Uganda Association for Impact Assessment (UAIA) for which he has served as a previous Chairperson. He is a certified environmental practitioner in Uganda (Team Leader for Environmental and Social Impact Assessments and Environmental Audits) by Uganda’s National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA).

Edgar has been recognized for his work in environmental management in Uganda. He was awarded the Environment Sustainability Award 2023 (for High Quality Work and High Ethical Conduct) by the Government of Uganda.
